After reviewing all the ingredients, we’ll learn how to beat egg whites to obtain a successful airy chocolate mousse, and discover the secrets of a soft madeleine and a melting financier.

Would you like to learn embroidery, the ancient art of fabric decoration, while adopting sustainable practices? Would you like to discover a decorative embroidery technique that can be used to patch garments?

In this 3-hour workshop, Clara takes us on a tour of techniques inspired by Sashiko (meaning “little stitches”), a traditional Japanese form of embroidery. Initially designed to reinforce work clothes, this hand-embroidery technique is now mainly used for aesthetic purposes.

By practicing on a cotton fabric, we’ll cover the basic principles of this age-old technique; the use of front and back stitches; and methods for creating regular lines and beautiful geometric designs.

Skills required: none, apart from a little meticulousness and patience.

Would you like to discover the different uses of wool? Would you like to learn about felting while making warm, custom made mittens?

In this 4-hour workshop, Jesse will introduce us to the fluffy world of wool felting, as we make cozy mittens! We’ll be using the water felting technique, which makes it possible to quickly create resistant textiles, without knitting or weaving, using the natural qualities of wool. Water, heat, soap and rubbing will join the fibers together, transforming them into mittens that fit everyone’s hands. This durable and repairable technique can also be used to make hats, slippers or clothing… What’s more, wool is a natural and biodegradable material!

Each participant can choose from several colors of natural wool.

Are you a gourmet who’s always wanted to know how to make the best quiches and savoury tarts in town? Want to impress your friends and family at your next potluck?

In this 3-hour workshop, we’ll delve into the world of savory tarts. Using traditional methods, we’ll discover how to make hand-kneaded shortcrust pastry. Using basic kitchen utensils, we’ll cook two culinary classics: a quiche Lorraine and a seasonal vegetable tart!

With a rolling pin and a whisk, we’ll learn how to master the textures of a successful pastry, strike a balance between flavors and choose the right seasonal vegetables. Everyone will leave with a quiche and a savoury tart.

As part of the Circular Economy Month, a topic particularly close to our hearts, we’re giving a challenge to our lovely community!

Use your creativity to take up the Scraps Challenge… No need to be a pro, it’s boldness and creativity that will be rewarded!

We’ll be wrapping up the Scraps Challenge with an event on Saturday, October 28, at Les Affûtés Petite Italie, from 2 to 5 pm, where we’ll get together and award the prizes to the grand winners in each category.

Here are the 3 categories for you to let your imagination run wild:

  1. Halloween (costume, decor or any other spooky creation) 🎃
  2. The most useful 🔨
  3. The wackiest 🤪

How does it work?
– Register for the event on Saturday, October 28. You can register as a participant or just a visitor with voting rights!

– We’ll make a whole range of scraps available for free at our two locations: wood, fabric, metal, plexiglass, leather, mosaic, plant moss… You can also use your own scraps if you have any at home.

Les Affûtés scraps will be available :
– at Petite-Italie from Tuesday, October 10
– at the Village from Wednesday, October 11.

– You then have two weeks to complete your project, at Les Affûtés or elsewhere. Note that you’ll have to pay for your own time if you do it at Les Affûtés.

– Show up with your best smile at Les Affûtés Petite-Italie on October 28, at 1:30 p.m. (to have some time to find the perfect place to display your work).

– Around 3:30 p.m.: everyone will take part in the votes to name the best project for each category, and an awards ceremony will close the event!

How to arrange your space to make it look bigger? How to organize a room to make it more pleasant on a daily basis?

In this 3-hour workshop, Nicolas, interior designer, will show us how to arrange and optimize the volumes of a living space.

In the first part of the workshop, we will discuss how to expand a room in an unusual and creative way, with customized details. We will also see how to integrate, recover or hide existing elements in the decor.

In the second part, we will put into practice a planning workshop for a living space and a modular sectional.

Would you like to learn how to make your own underwear? Would you like to learn how to sew by making a delicate and seductive textile project?

During this 3.5-hr workshop, Cécile will guide us in making comfortable bobbins! We will make one bobble per person so that we can be autonomous at home and be able to fill our drawer with personalized bobbles.

During the workshop, we will discover the fundamentals of sewing such as
threading the machine, sewing in zig-zag stitch, placing an elastic, sewing lace, making beautiful finishes.

Each participant will have the choice of two to three colors and the possibility to combine several of them.

Main fabric composition: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex
Skill requirements: basic sewing skills are welcome, but the workshop is suitable for all levels!

You would like to learn the art of mosaic but you don’t know where to start? Would you like to express your creativity while making a useful everyday object?

This workshop is for you! Over the course of 3 hours, Ricardo will guide you through all the necessary steps to create a mosaic. After a presentation on the art of mosaicing, you will have time to create a mosaic design and choose colors to create a personalized trivet. After an introduction to the different types of tools used for mosaicing, you will begin cutting the pieces with pliers. You’ll be taught several techniques for placing and installing tesserae, as well as handling grout and cement glue. You will then move on to adding the finishing touches to the project!

Creativity is welcome in this workshop, you can come with a design idea or a drawing.

Skills required: none, this workshop is open to all and is ideal for a parent-child moment (minimum age 12)!

Would you like to enjoy the sun while protecting your skin with natural and environmentally friendly products? You want to apply the principles of zero waste outside your bathroom?

During this 3-hour workshop, Marie will guide us through the making of three essential cosmetic products to take care of your skin all summer long! We will first discover the different properties of the raw materials, their roles and their benefits to protect ourselves from the risks of the sun.

We will then make three natural products to take with us on all our summer trips: a solid mineral sunscreen; an after-sun gel (for a healthy glow or to repair the skin); and two tubes of lip balm with UV protection (with the possibility of tinting one).

Everyone will leave with personalized products, reusable containers and the recipes to reproduce them at home!

Skills required: none, except for loving the outdoors and the sun!

This 3-hour workshop will be the opportunity to learn the basics of making natural handmade candles in containers. You will learn about the different waxes, how to choose the right wick, how to color your candles with natural pigments and how to scent them.

Each participant will make 2 natural candles with vegetable waxes, according to their own preferences!
