Want to discover the sunny flavors of Portugal and master the iconic dishes of its generous cuisine? Do you want to learn how to prepare rich and flavorful recipes that bring to mind warm and festive gatherings?
In collaboration with another participant and over the course of this 3.5-hour workshop, we will dive into the richness of Portuguese gastronomy by preparing three must-try dishes: Porco à Alentejana, a bold surf-and-turf dish combining pork and clams, feijoada, a comforting bean and meat stew, and finally, the famous pastéis de nata, golden, crispy custard tarts. Using frying pans, pots, and rolling pins, we will learn knife-cutting techniques, how to balance spices, cook legumes to perfection, and braise meat for maximum flavor.
After reviewing the necessary ingredients, we will uncover the secrets of proper seasoning, the art of slow cooking for deep, aromatic flavors, and the delicate technique of laminating dough to create pastéis de nata worthy of Lisbon’s finest pastry shops. Each participant will leave with their own creations and the skills to recreate these delights at home.
