We’ll discover the wood lathe, its functions and associated tools. We’ll then take a look at the basic techniques of interlocking turning and the various stages involved in making an object: drawing, using roughing and profiling gouges, tracing, profiling, understanding sanding and preparing the piece for finishing. Once the base has been turned, the mill mechanism will be installed. You’ll be able to choose from a range of designs to create a unique object.

We’ll cover the various basic techniques for weaving and tightening rattan. We’ll learn continuous finger-weaving from a closed woven base. Wooden handles and a touch of color will also be added (several colors available).

We’ll cover the various basic techniques for weaving and tightening rattan. We’ll learn continuous finger-weaving from a closed braided base. We’ll also add a touch of color and insert a cotton braid (choice of colors).
