In this 2-session course, you’ll discover two different skills, through the creation of a single object: a bi-material coffee table, in wood and mosaic. Most of the materials used come from the circular economy.

Session 1 (3h30) will provide an opportunity to discover woodworking using various machines such as: press drill ; miter saws; hand drills; and sanders. We’ll also cover measuring, gluing and finishing techniques.

Session 2 (3h) immerses us into the world of decorative mosaics, to bring a unique creative touch to our project. After reviewing the steps involved in creating a mosaic, we’ll take the time to think about the design and choose the colors to create a personalized mosaic. We’ll then discover the right tools, how to cut the pieces using pliers, and techniques for installing the tesserae, gluing and finalizing the project.

During this 3-hour workshop, Sarah will take us into the delicate world of stationery. Everyone will have the opportunity to design and print their own gift wrap, to please every occasion! After reviewing the necessary tools and materials, we’ll take the time to choose our designs and transfer the motif onto the linoleum block. We’ll then move on to sculpting the motif by hand, followed by printing on the paper.

Each participant will leave with a sample of printed paper, a 3m long roll of paper, and their carved print, to continue printing at home!
