We’ll cover the basics of sewing and how to use a sewing machine and serger. We’ll learn various garment design techniques, such as: threading and setting up a machine; sewing several layers together; practicing straight and curved seams; topstitching; finishing seams with the serger; and hemming.

In this mostly theoretical 3-hour workshop, led by a sewing specialist, you’ll learn the best ways to distinguish the different fabrics used to sew garments, and how to make the wisest choices. You can expect to:

  • – Learn to identify fabrics through observation with a magnifying glass and touch.
  • – Differentiate between the characteristics of different types (fit, weight, fall and appearance).
  • – Learn about the various interlining options available and choose the right fabric to sew a prototype for your project.
  • – Understand the criteria and descriptions on a pattern pocket to buy the right fabric in a store or online.
  • – Know how to care for and prepare fabrics for sewing.

In this 3.5h workshop, we’ll learn the fundamentals of sewing by making a comfortable jacket in a linen and rayon blend fabric for freshness and lightness. It’s perfect for everyday wear, as well as for the beach and urban parties.

You’ll discover techniques such as :

  • – Recognizing the different parts of a top
  • – Ironing
  • – Pinning and sewing straight
  • – Sewing armholes
  • – Making a neckline
  • – Sew a sleeve hem

Your brushes, pencils, knitting needles and magic wands are always scattered all over the place, and you’d like to find them more easily by storing them in a pretty fabric tool case adapted to your needs?

In this 3-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to make a roll-up case from fabric scraps, and customize its width to fit your collection of small tools. You can bring them with you to make sure you get the compartments just right.

The overall size of the open case is approximately 25cm x 30cm.

Suitable for pencils, pens, brushes, knitting needles, leather stamps, hooks, etc…

It is not designed for heavy, sharp tools such as kitchen knives or chisels.

In this 7-hour course (2 sessions of 3.5 hours each), Kathryn takes us into the world of recycling and offers us a great alternative for reusing small lengths of fabric: make a unique, personalized reversible top from scraps of all kinds!

We’ll cover the basics of sewing:

– Session 1: taking measurements; choosing fabric; tracing the pattern; cutting fabric; discovering the fundamentals of sewing and the machine; assembling a clamp; assembling parts.

– Session 2: lining assembly; support stitching; armhole and side assembly; hemming and finishing.

In this 3-hour workshop, you’ll learn by hand how to weave a patch through your knitwear or socks to repair the damaged area and make it a subtle or even colorful part of your garment from now on.

You can expect :

  • – A presentation of knitwear types: weight, composition and texture
  • – A demonstration of the festoon stitch (to stabilize a frayed edge)
  • – Execute a scallop stitch on a sample provided
  • – A demonstration of darning and its variations
  • – Practice darning on the supplied sample or chosen garment
  • – Finishing repairs

We suggest you bring a few knits with you to choose the most suitable to start with during the course, so you can benefit from our expert’s notions. The easiest to darn to start with are the thicker knits.

Skills required: None. You don’t need to know how to knit or have hand-stitched before to take the course.

Would you like to learn how to use a sewing machine? Would you like to make your own cocooning accessories to take time for yourself?

In this 3-hour workshop, Kathryn takes us through the process of making a set of 3 accessories to take good care of your facial skin! Ideal for beginners, this workshop will be the perfect opportunity to learn about the sewing machine and discover sewing fundamentals such as :

Threading the machine; practicing straight and curved seams with topstitching; sewing several layers; attaching Velcro and elastic; making beautiful finishes.

Everyone will leave with the following customizable accessories :
– an adjustable terry cloth headband, to hold hair in place.
– two terry cloth scrunchies, to keep forearms dry (or two scrunchies with other fabrics to tie up hair).
– several make-up remover wipes.

In this 3h30 workshop, Kathryn will help us make a maxi tote bag, using leather from the circular economy! This durable, practical and elegant bag will follow us on all our urban escapades. We’ll cover the fundamentals of sewing and how the sewing machine works, while learning to sew a rigid material and working with angles and 3D volumes. We’ll also discover the different processes involved in sewing leather by machine, as well as applied pieces.

Each participant will be able to choose between several colors and textures of leather (smooth side or suede side) and personalize their tote bag according to their desires: size, number and shape of pockets, colors of straps…

Skills required: basic sewing skills and experience of using a sewing machine.

We’ll cover all the basics of sewing:

– Session 1: choosing, cutting and assembling scraps.

– Session 2: reading a pattern, cutting fabric, stitching, assembling a sleeve, collar or finishing.
