Are you starting a personal sewing project and need a little help to move forward? You would like to learn specific and complex sewing techniques?

The Labo-Fûtés are small group workshops that allow you to go further in your project, while benefiting from a personalized accompaniment, thanks to the expertise of our Sharpeners.

During these 3 hours, our seamstress will be there to guide you and help you advance in your project. In a free format, our teacher will adapt to each and everyone to offer a personalized and more specialized guidance. If you have several small projects, you are also welcome, we will cover as many of your questions as possible in the time available.
This class will accommodate a small group of 6 people.

You can bring your own sewing machine, but please note that we have everything you need on site.

We provide the thread, buttons and all the necessary tools (pins, scissors, tape measure, chalk, thread cutter, iron, bobbin, pattern ruler…). Note however that fabric is not included, so please bring what you need to make your project.

 

Are you still fascinated by stained glass? You would like to learn more about stained glass and you love heart-shaped objects?

In this 3 hour workshop, stained glass artist Isabelle will guide you through the creation of a lovely heart-shaped ornament. Using the copper ribbon method, also known as the Tiffany method, you’ll put to good use all the notions you learned in your previous introductory course. At the end of the course, you’ll leave with your own creation, based on the pattern provided during the workshop.

Different colors and textures of glass will be provided.

During the workshop, we will practice using the tools as well as :
– Cutting the glass
– Grinding your pieces
– Place the copper tape
– Soldering
– Clean up your project
– Polishing the solder joints

Skills required: It’s important to have already taken at least one beginner’s stained glass course (here), as we don’t cover the basics due to lack of time.

Do you want to discover metalworking in depth, by making a stylish and durable coffee table for your home?

This course, in 4 x 3-hour sessions, will enable you to learn all the fundamentals of electrode welding and to practice at length:

Do you work with wood and want to improve your knowledge and technique? Do you dream of a world of smooth curves?

This 12-hr course (4 sessions of 3 hours each) on wood bending is the perfect opportunity to take your woodworking to the next level! Throughout the sessions, you will learn the techniques and the mastery of the methods to bend wood in all its forms, or almost!  We will discover glued laminated bending, steam bending and grooving.

Session 1:

– characteristics and behavior of wood

– the different types of bending

– grooved bending

Session 2:

– preparation of moulds and counter-moulds

– preparation of lamellas

– glued laminated bending

Session 3:

– finishing glulam bending

– steam bending with compression straps

Session 4:

– finishing steam bending

– experimenting with soaking and heating bending

Skills required: You must already know how to work safely with the bench saw, band saw, drill press, planer and jointer.

The sessions of the course that starts on October 14 will take place on Fridays : 14, 21, 28 of October and Friday November 4 from 6pm to 9pm. 

Would you like to learn how to make your own underwear? Would you like to learn how to sew by making a delicate and seductive textile project?

During this 4-hour workshop, Cécile will help you make a custom-made bra! Ideal for everyday use, as well as for your yoga sessions. You will have the choice between two or three colors, as well as the positioning of the straps (straight or crossed).

During the workshop, we will discover the basics of sewing such as:

Threading the machine, sewing in zig-zag stitch, mounting a chest clip, mounting adjustable straps, lining the garment with built-in elastics, making beautiful finishes.

Main fabric composition: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex

Skill requirements: basic sewing skills are welcome, but the workshop is suitable for all levels!

PS: We recommend that you attend a beginner’s level sewing workshop first.

Are you a cycling enthusiast who already knows the basics of maintenance and tuning? Would you like to take your bike to the next level to be able to pamper your faithful companion?

This 3-hour workshop, at the intermediate level, will be the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of bike maintenance, repair, and adjustment. Arnaud, a bicycle enthusiast, and experienced mechanic will guide you through all the steps of crankset maintenance, disc brake adjustment, and changing a cassette or freewheel.

You will learn about the different types of cranksets and how to diagnose and evaluate a crankset in need of maintenance. You will learn how to disassemble and lubricate cranksets, and then reassemble them with a technique to aim the pedals. We will then discuss the cassette, its life span, the signs of end of life, and learn how to disassemble and reassemble it. Finally, we will focus on mechanical disc brakes. We will talk about how the caliper works on the disc and we will learn how to disassemble, maintain, reassemble, clean and adjust the brakes.

Skills required: have already attended a bike maintenance or adjustment workshop, or have experience in the field.

Don’t forget to bring your bike!

NB: Level 1, 2 and 3 cycling workshops do not have to be done in order.

You have attended the plumbing course level 1 and you would like to go further?

In this workshop, we will discover in a small didactic first part, the fundamentals of plumbing.

In the second part, we will practice by working on different devices ourselves.

We will see during this workshop :

  • – Drainage and water returns
  • – Backflow protection systems
  • – How to maintain and unclog your plumbing
  • – How to replace, install and connect a sink and its faucet on different types of countertops
  • – How to prevent and repair a leak

Skill required: Have already done the plumbing workshop level 1.

N.B.: You must always call a certified plumber for work done in your home. This workshop does not allow you to do professional work yourself.

This level II course is designed to take you to the next level in woodturning! Over 5 sessions, you will take the time to deepen and perfect your basic woodturning techniques, complete a complex project and discover everything you need to become independent.

Over the course of the sessions, we will learn how to make woodworking assemblies on the lathe (mortise and tenon) by making a beautiful plant table out of cherry wood:

Class 1: Preparation of blanks – tracing, gluing the tenon, cutting out the legs and seat.

Lesson 2: Drilling the mortises, turning the seat on the board.

Lesson 3: Turning the legs and their tenons between the points.

Lesson 4: Finishing the turning of the pieces, assembling the furniture and making adjustments.

Lesson 5: Trimming the assemblies, sanding and finishing.

Required skills: to access this course you must have already completed the level 1 wood lathe course or the bowl and plate course + an initiation workshop.

The price includes all the materials needed, lots of tips, and lots of chips!

In addition to the 5 sessions, the woodturning course – level II – gives you free access to 8 hours of independent workshops, to advance your project between sessions.
