Is your bed or sofa looking a little bored, and would you like to give it a new lease on life with a cozy, colorful, fully personalized blanket? Are you ready to dive into a highly creative sewing project?
In this 4-session course (4 × 3 hours), you’ll make your own small quilt while learning the best sewing techniques to recycle beautiful fabric scraps that definitely don’t deserve to end up in the trash!
What you can expect :
- – Session 1: Design, color selection, pattern drawing, preparation, cutting.
(We won’t need the sewing machine during the first class.) - – Session 2: Assembly principles, chain sewing, and pressing.
- – Session 3: Finalizing the assembly and preparing for quilting.
- – Session 4: Quilting, trimming, and attaching the binding.
A variety of colors and types of fabric will be available for your composition. However, feel free to bring your favorite fabrics or recycle your own clothing! The magic of a quilt lies in giving it a story through a multitude of fabrics.
Since assembling a quilt is a substantial undertaking and we will also be focusing on finishing techniques, the maximum possible size of the quilt made during this course will be 36“ x 36”.
Required skills : None—this workshop is open to everyone, though it’s preferable to already know how to sew a straight line. We will, however, go quickly over how to thread a sewing machine.
The price includes all materials, the sewing machine, and plenty of personalized guidance.
In addition to the 4 sessions, the quilting course also gives you 8 free hours of independent studio time to work on your project between sessions.
