Do you love knitting and want to tackle a complete project? Are the slippers lovingly knitted by your Grandmother a mystery to you?
During this 6-hour course (2 sessions of 3 hours), you will learn how to cast on, knit flat, knit in the round, and decrease stitches to make warm and cozy slippers for cold winter evenings. Several customization options will be available, such as colour variations, adding pompoms, and recycled leather soles.
During the first session, we will review the basics of knitting: types of needles, stitches, cast-ons, and flat versus circular knitting. We will then get down to business with creating a pattern based on measurements, choosing colours, presenting the collage technique, attaching the sole, and garter stitch knitting. During the second session, we will review the first section, then move on to circular knitting, toe decreases, grafting, and finally finishing.
Required skills: a love of knitting and a little patience! This course is open to beginners as well as intermediate knitters who want to take their skills to the next level.
The price includes all necessary materials and endless professional advice!
NB: Wool, needles, and accessories are provided for this workshop. Several acrylic knitting yarn colour options will be provided, but if you wish to bring your own colours, you may do so, as long as your yarns held together are equal to “Jumbo” size, #7 or 7 wpi. You may need to finish your second slipper at home, in which case a leaflet is provided so that you can achieve it. The pattern you will be making is for your own foot, but if you wish to make slippers for someone else, you can simply adapt the pattern to their measurements using the sheet provided.
