Wood and upholstery course – Making a bench

Would you like to be able to take a break more easily while sitting comfortably? If you’ve always wanted to learn woodworking and are intrigued by upholstery techniques, this multi-skill course is for you!

During this course of 6 x 3-hour sessions, you’ll experience woodworking and upholstering.

To build your ash wood bench, you’ll first learn how to cut your wood to the right lengths, make dowel joints and use a router jig to machine shapes. You’ll also do the finishing, so you leave with a smooth, solid structure. In the upholstery section, you’ll create a cushioned seating surface that’s as comfortable as you want it to be!

Throughout the course, you’ll learn how to use :

  • – Mitre saw
  • – Drill press
  • – Under-table and flush milling machines

You’ll also learn about strapping, upholstering and stapling.

Approximately four sessions will be devoted to woodworking and two to upholstering.

Total bench dimensions are 26 1/2 “W x 12 ‘D x 22’ high.

You’ll have the freedom to choose your fabric on site!

Skills required: a facility with handicrafts or previous workshop experience would be ideal.

In addition to the 6 sessions, this course includes 8h of autonomy, which should be used to advance your project between each session.
