Do you want to immortalize your favorite flower on a scarf or keep a souvenir of the most beautiful autumn leaves on a piece of silk or cotton?
In this 3-hour workshop, Manon, a professional artist and costume designer, will introduce us to the world of botanical printing on fabric while exploring the basic principles of natural dyeing.
We will first experiment with fiber preparation, followed by steam-printing techniques. We will use dried plants, such as leaves and flowers, to create all kinds of colorful patterns in a variety of shades.
You will go home with your 13″ x 13″ silk exploration sample, your 18″ x 18″ silk composition sample, and your 13″ x 13″ cotton printing sample.
Required skills: None. However, for a little extra ease, some basic knowledge of natural dyeing is recommended.
The workshop includes all the materials, flowers, leaves, tips and fun to create!
You may want to wear an old T-shirt or an apron, as although the process is not particularly messy, the experiments during this workshop may cause staining.
Please note that we will be using volatile powders that may irritate the respiratory tract. Masks will be provided when necessary.
