Have you always been fascinated by the timeless beauty of old photographs and want to explore a technique from the early days of photographic printing?
In this 3-hour workshop, Manon, a costume designer and textile artist, will guide you through the steps to create UV-light-sensitive compositions that will develop in water using the cyanotype process.
We’ll start by exploring the theory and history of this art form before creating a few samples using plant materials and openwork fabrics. We’ll cover the basics of the cyanotype process on paper, then learn how to texture backgrounds, before delving into the specifics of cyanotype on fabric.
You’ll go home with two samples, three 6“ x 8” compositions, and plenty of ideas to explore further.
Skills required: none. This workshop is suitable for anyone who is curious and enjoys visual and creative arts.

Note: You may want to wear an old t-shirt or an apron. Cyanotype isn’t especially messy, but it can stain.
