Learn to fish without hooking yourself or others
You want to learn how to fish for your own food in the wilderness, but setting a hook on a line is a mystery to you and you’re afraid of hooking your friend on a cast?
During this 3-hour workshop, we will learn with Pierre-Yves, an experienced fisherman, the basics of sport fishing. We will demystify how to choose your first equipment, how to attach a hook on a line, how and why to use certain lures and not others, how to cast well without getting stuck in the bottom or in the branches, all this in practice.
The workshop will take place near the Lachine Canal in Montreal, in the St-Henri borough. The exact location will be determined a few days before the activity according to various parameters influencing the fish and will be communicated to you by email.
Skills required: None, except an interest in the outdoors and not having a phobia of worms and fish!
The price includes all the necessary equipment, and lots of practice (and maybe a fish or two…).
P.S. If you have your own rod, bring it along to get familiar with it.
N.B.: You will need an annual sport fishing license to participate in the workshop (at a cost of $23.40).
Montreal fishing licenses can be purchased at the following stores: Montreal license vendors.
And for any questions about licenses, you can find all the information here.
Please note that the workshop will be held outdoors, so it is important to bring appropriate clothing for the weather and a bottle of water.
