In this two-session course (3 hours each), you’ll learn how to design and sew your own overalls, from cutting the fabric to the finishing touches. It’s a complete project to help you get comfortable with the essential basics of sewing while creating a piece you’ll wear for a long time.
You’ll be guided step by step in using a sewing machine and learning the right techniques: straight and curved seams, clean assembly, using a serger, and finishing methods. You’ll also learn how to apply bias tape (a strip of fabric used to neatly finish edges), sew a hem, and work with facings (fabric pieces that reinforce and finish edges like necklines or openings) for a polished, durable result.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll assemble the different parts of your overalls: front, back, crotch, sides, then the straps and finishing details. We’ll also take time to understand each step so you can build confidence and independence for your future sewing projects.
Several colors will be available depending on supply.
No prior experience is required. You’ll leave with your finished overalls—and, more importantly, with solid skills to keep sewing on your own.
The training sessions on Saturday, May 30th will take place on the same day, from 10 am to 5 pm. Don’t forget your lunch.
