Would you like to learn how to make your own handmade soap and at the same time learn how to shape ceramics?

For this training, Les Faiseurs & les Affûtés have joined forces to offer you two workshops to make a perfect little kit for your bathroom. You will have the opportunity to make your own soaps (with Les Affûtés) and shape a ceramic soap dish and toothbrush holder (with Les Faiseurs).

– Workshop 1: Soap making
Date and place: Saturday April 8th, at 10am at Affûtés Petite-Italie, (6552 Boul St-Laurent, Montreal)
Duration: 3h

This workshop will be an opportunity to discover the creation of soap while having fun! We will discover the mysteries of cold saponification and the properties of different vegetable oils. We will also use essential oils and natural pigments to create a soap that is unique to us.

Each participant will leave with (approximately) 6 bars of soap and the recipe to start over at home!

There will be a one hour break between the two workshops, so that you have time to eat your lunch.

– Workshop 2: Making the ceramic kit
Date and place: Saturday April 8th, at 2pm at the Annexe des Faiseurs (6564 Boul. Saint-Laurent, Montreal)
Duration: 2h30

This workshop will introduce you to the technique of ceramic shaping. You will see how to make a nice soap dish to put your creations made at Les Affûtés, as well as a holder for your toothbrush or a small cup to embellish the edges of your sink. You will have the opportunity to personalize the pieces by choosing their shape, and decorating them with underglazes.

Don’t hesitate to come up with ideas to discuss with the teacher: HERE

Due to the firing time, you will be able to pick up your 2 ceramic pieces at the Makers’ workshop about 5 weeks after the class.

Skills required: none, this workshop is accessible to everyone.

Price Includes: all materials needed to make soap as well as the clay, firing and glazing for the ceramics.
