During this three-hour workshop, we will cover the basics of woodturning by making a solid wood fountain pen. A unique and useful item for those who are nostalgic for writing sweet notes by hand! Pen making is ideal for those who want to work on fine and delicate projects.
First, we will learn about the wood lathe, its functions, and the tools associated with the project. We will then explore different basic woodturning techniques and the various stages of making the object: preparing the blocks of wood; installing the pen chuck; using roughing and profiling gouges; assembling the pieces; and finishing with oil.
Required skills: a good dose of patience, attention to detail, and delicacy!
