In this 3-hour workshop, Laurence takes us on a fascinating journey into the world of marquetry! This is a discipline used by cabinetmakers to create decorations using wood veneers. We’ll learn about the crimping technique and the various stages of wood veneer work, through the creation of a geometric marquetry design.
– Theoritical introduction to veneer,
– Cutting techniques,
– The use of splices (cutting and assembly),
– Assembly with veneer tape,
– Gluing and clamping on the core,
– Cutting and gluing of edgebands,
– Demonstration and practice of sanding (without going through!).
You’ll be able to choose from a wide range of wood species and leave with a unique marquetry piece!
Skills required: none, apart from a little patience and attention to detail.
