Would you like to learn the art of woodturning? Would you like to make an everyday object that will stand elegantly on your dining table?

In this 4-hour workshop, we’ll cover the basics of woodturning by creating an elegant spice mill that can hold peppers, coriander, salts and chillies of all kinds!

We’ll discover the wood lathe, its functions and associated tools. We’ll then take a look at the basic techniques of interlocking turning and the various stages involved in making an object: drawing, using roughing and profiling gouges, tracing, profiling, understanding sanding and preparing the piece for finishing. Once the base has been turned, the mill mechanism will be installed. You’ll be able to choose from a range of designs to create a unique object.

Skills required: none, everyone is welcome, even those who don’t cook!
