Would you like to get familiar with woodworking using various router tools that allow you to create grooves, shapes, and all sorts of rounded edges? Are you curious about them—or even tempted—but also a little intimidated?
In this 2 sessions of 3-hour course, our professional cabinetmaker will introduce you to the world of routers, covering the different types, their specific uses, and how to handle them skillfully, wisely, and safely.
You will learn how to:
-
– Identify different types of router
-
– Understand how they work, along with the pros and cons of each
-
– Change the router bits
-
– Secure your movements and control the machine for safe operation
-
– Carry out specific tasks using jigs, guides, and other router accessories
During the course, you’ll create a small project that will allow you to put the theory into practice. You’ll get hands-on experience with:
-
– A groove joint
-
– Cutting a circle using a jig and/or a router guide
-
– Shaping with a flush-trim bit
-
– Creating decorative elements
Since you’ll likely develop a taste for using this incredibly versatile tool, the course also includes 2 hours of independent workshop time (not on the same day). This allows you to take full advantage of your new skills and finish or refine the object you started during the workshop.
The course includes all materials: wood, tools, plenty of expert advice—but no spinning heads!
