General questions
Can I come if I’m a beginner?
Yes, obviously! All the workshops, creation and repair sessions are open to beginners.
What kind of workshops are available?
Everything that is handmade can be the subject of a workshop. You’ll find a lot of workshops around woodworking, sewing, DIY, electronics, but if you’d like to see something that you do not find, you can let us know here.
If I need help, how does it work?
There will always be somebody, user or team member, to help you if you’re stuck or if you’re looking for something. And if you need assistance to design or make something, a dedicated coach from the team can help you.
Can I cancel a workshop?
Yes, until 72h before the workshop, without cost except the payment fee.
And you can exchange your ticket for another workshop until 24h before.
And if we’re two?
For the Create part, you pay by person.
In a learning workshop, it’s usually by person too. But on some subjects, you can be two to create one project. Contact us in case you’re wondering for a specific workshop!

Can I come if I’m a beginner?
Can I come if I’m a beginner?
Yes, of course you can! All workshops are open to beginners. If this is not the case, we will mention it in the description.
Are children and teeenagers allowed?
Of course!
They just need to be able to be active with you, during all the workshop. This means a minimum age of 12 for all activities (except sewing, from 8 years old, welding, from 18 years old and wood lathe, from 14 years old) and a maximum of one child per adult.
It is imperative that you let us know in advance (because of the number of participants).
To make a project for two, simply book a place online for the adult.
NB: Note that we can only accommodate children in a group workshop, not in a stand-alone project.
Who provides the courses?
The sharpeners, specialists who have been working in their field for several years and are eager to share their skills to make the sharpened ones autonomous.
What are the subjects covered?
Anything that is made by hand can be the subject of a workshop. You will find many workshops around wood, sewing, decoration, electronics, but if you want to see a particular subject, you can suggest it here.
Can we cancel in case of unavailability?
Yes, up to 48 hours before the workshop, at no charge (except for payment fees). And we can also exchange, free of charge, up to 48 hours before the workshop, to register you for a later date, if the workshop is reorganized, or to register you for another workshop.
What if I am late?
Unfortunately, many safety instructions are given at the beginning of the workshop. We can’t accept an arrival more than 15 minutes late, for security reasons, and the registration is then lost.
So run quickly :).
And if we wish to come together?
It’s possible and very simple!
Each person makes his own project, and then you have to take two places
N.B.: If the 2nd person is a child (12 years old and over for the wood workshops and 8 years old and over for the sewing workshops), he/she does not pay!
Can I come with my dog?
We love dogs, and the team has several. But unfortunately, we cannot accept dogs (except guide dogs) during the workshops, because of the machines and tools present in the workshop.
How do I know when a workshop will be available again?
On the page of each workshop, when you click on ”See More date” you will find a button “Sign up for the waiting list”. We will write to you as soon as a date is back online.
How to book a workshop for a group (+ 3 people)?
Write or call us and we’ll set up a private or semi-private workshop together.
How gift cards work ?
Les Affûtés gift cards can be used for all workshops, and for any personal project.
When you buy one, you will receive a code to use when you book your next visit.
Custom projects
What if I am a total beginner?
Don’t worry, we’re used to it :). And if there’s one place where you won’t be laughed at for not knowing how to use a drill, it’s right here!
If you have an idea but don’t know where to start, the best thing to do is to book a coaching session with a workshop leader. He or she will help you think about your project and then make it.
What if I am already completely autonomous?
Welcome, specialist 🙂
You will have to book a companion so that we can make a quick tour of the workshop and the machines together. This allows us to check your autonomy and to introduce you to the specificities of each machine.
And then you are free as a bird!
For the operation, after we have confirmed your autonomy, you simply pay your time of presence (12$ per hour per unit, and the rate is decreasing if you take hour packs).
What if I need help?
That’s what we’re here for: there’s always at least one workshop leader on site to help you.
You pay for his accompaniment if needed, $12 per 15 minutes.
What tools are available on site?
The complete list of tools is available here!
Can I bring my own material (wood, fabric, screws...)?
You can bring your own materials.
But, to make your life easier and to avoid waste, you will find many materials (all wood, screws, varnish, paint) sold individually!
And we also have fabric and wood scraps that are given away.
Do you sell materials individually?
Yes, all materials (wood, screws, varnish…) are sold individually, to avoid making you buy what you don’t need.
Can I leave a project for several days?
Yes, you can of course leave a piece of furniture for several days if your project lasts.
Still, we can’t keep projects for a long time if you don’t work on them, because we have little space.
To avoid this, we charge the storage of large projects (=which do not fit under a workbench) $10 a day, for the days when you do not work on it.
And for small projects, we charge $10 per week, after a first free week.
Do you rent tools?
No, in the vast majority of cases, we only offer them for use in the space, when you come to use the place. We prefer to be able to help you with the use of a tool if you have a problem.
Can the children come?
Unfortunately, children cannot accompany an adult in the wood autonomy sessions.
